Privacy
Pandabar has no analytics, and you don’t need an account to use it. What you copy, capture and write stays on your Mac and your own devices. If you choose to sync it over the internet, it is end-to-end encrypted, so we can’t read it.

The app
Pandabar works on your Mac. Your clipboard history, screenshots, recordings, notes, documents, snippets and settings are stored on your Mac. Pandabar collects no usage statistics, crash reports or advertising identifiers. Every tool works without an account; an account is optional, for syncing over the internet and for Pandabar Pro.
What goes over the internet, and when
Pandabar goes online only for things you ask it to do:
- Currency rates. When you convert a currency in the launcher, Pandabar downloads the day’s exchange rates from open.er-api.com, at most once a day.
- Wallpapers. When you browse the Notch wallpaper gallery, pick a wallpaper or turn on a new one every day, Pandabar fetches pictures from Wikimedia Commons, NASA or Unsplash. Unsplash is used only with an access key of your own, which stays in your keychain.
- AI answers. AI Assistant and Drawing Converter send what you give them (your text, and any picture you add) to the AI provider you choose: Anthropic, OpenAI or Google with your own key, under that provider’s own privacy policy. A local model through Ollama or LM Studio keeps everything on your Mac. Pandabar AI, part of Pro, sends your request through our server to Anthropic. Our server counts how much you use, by model and number of tokens, so it can keep to your monthly allowance; it doesn’t store your prompts or the answers.
- Bookmark icons. For bookmarks you save in Pandabar, it fetches each site’s icon from the site itself or, failing that, from Google’s favicon service, and keeps it on your Mac.
- Integrations. If you connect Slack, GitHub, Linear or Notion, Pandabar talks to that service directly with the token you give it, which stays in your keychain.
None of these requests carry anything about you beyond what they need, though like any web request they show the service your IP address.
Web pages you export from the Markdown editor link to the KaTeX stylesheet on cdn.jsdelivr.net, so that maths in them displays correctly. That stylesheet is fetched by whoever opens the exported page, not by Pandabar.
Clipboard sync and File Drop
On the same network, your devices find each other and talk to each other directly. Clipboard items are encrypted with AES‑256‑GCM under a key that is made on your device and shared with your other devices by QR code or through your account. Items that password managers mark as secret are never stored or sent.
If you sign in to an account, devices that aren’t on the same network pass items through our relay. They are encrypted on your device before they leave it, so the relay only ever holds encrypted data, and it deletes it after 24 hours.
Your account
An account is optional. If you make one, we keep what’s needed to run it: your email address or phone number (or the identifier Apple or Google gives us when you sign in with them), and for each device you add its name, type, public key and when it was last seen. Our servers run on Supabase.
Cloud sync with Pandabar Pro
With Pro, your notes, snippets, bookmarks, settings and pinned clips are kept on our servers so that every device on your account has them. They are end-to-end encrypted with a key only your devices hold: we store them but can’t read them. We can see how much space they take, up to your 100 MB. If your subscription ends, your devices can still read what was synced, and you can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time.
Permissions
macOS asks you to allow Accessibility and Screen Recording for some tools: Accessibility to switch and arrange windows, tidy the menu bar and expand snippets; Screen Recording to take screenshots, record the screen and read text from it. Pandabar asks only when you first use a tool that needs one, and what it sees is processed on your Mac. Text recognition runs on your Mac too.
Phone Mirroring
Phone Mirroring shows your phone’s screen on your Mac: shared from PandaClip over your local network, over a USB cable, or with scrcpy, a free open-source tool, for Android. The picture goes directly from your phone to your Mac and is not sent online.
Buying Pro
You can buy Pro in Pandabar on your Mac, where payments are handled by Stripe, or in PandaClip through the App Store or Google Play. They receive the details needed to take your payment; we never see or store your card number. We receive the details of your subscription, such as the plan, its status and when it renews, so that we can unlock Pro on your devices and answer you when you write to us.
This website
pandabar.io uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. Its fonts and pictures are served from this site. Our web host keeps standard request logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running.
If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help you, and we use your address only to reply.
Your choices
You can clear the clipboard history in Pandabar at any time, turn off any tool, and use every tool without signing in. What Pandabar keeps on your Mac goes when you uninstall it together with its support files. If you have an account, you can remove devices from it in Pandabar’s settings. To ask what we hold about you, or to have your account and its data deleted, write to hello@pandabar.io.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with a new date.
